Five Sisters Lodge

Five Sisters Lodge

Since Five Sisters Lodge is situated on ten acres of privately titled land in the midst of the national reserve, you can truly get away from it all here. The lodge is about a one-hour drive from San Ignacio, on the Caracol road, just a few miles beyond the gate at the reserve's entrance. The location is ideal for anyone interested in exploring the region, including Caracol, Belize's largest Maya ruin, only a 1-1/2 hour drive from the lodge. You will also enjoy lounging in your hammock, or sitting on the deck enjoying the view. The lodge, owned by Belizean Carlos Popper, consists of 14 cabanas of varied size, each opening onto screened verandas with wonderful views, and a hammock. All cabanas are well screened, and mosquito netting is provided over the beds, although we didn't find it necessary to use it. The attractive, sparkling clean rooms have hardwood floors, and the locally crafted furnishings are basic, but adequate. The Lodge has a unique, wood-burning boiler system to heat its water. Our showers were not necessarily hot, but warm enough to be comfortable. The central building houses the bar, restaurant and lounge area. The deck around this building permits you to enjoy your drinks and meals while taking in the pristine beauty of your surroundings. The kitchen serves plenty of tasty, local cuisine, and homemade bread.

Black Rock River Lodge

Nestled high above the pristine Macal River and surrounded by the rugged Maya mountains and over 50,000 acres of lush tropical rainforest reserve, Black Rock River Lodge is in the most incredible location in Belize! With over a mile of river frontage on the Macal and 250 acres of private jungle estate, Black Rock River Lodge is a safe haven for guests. Our 12 bungalows are kept impeccably clean and are tastefully designed to be comfortable, romantic, and very private.

Our rustic open-air bar and dining room is exotically appointed with a native black slate floor and a huge palm-thatched roof offering spectacular views of Black Rock falls and canyon. Our delicious family-style meals range from tasty local dishes to international cuisine! Fresh coffee, fruits, and vegetables are grown organically at Black Rock River Lodge. Meat eaters and vegetarians alike are astounded by our variety of recipes and ability to cater to their needs.

All our cabanas have excellent views of Black Rock Canyon, cliffs, the Macal River, and surrounding jungle and mountains! Deluxe Cabanas are the largest and most nicely appointed of all the cabanas we offer. With a spacious interior, two queen size beds, a hardwood writing desk, and a large clean bathroom complete with hardwood cabinetry. Deluxe Cabanas are comfortable, romantic, private, and as luxurious as it gets in the jungles of Belize! Private Bath Cabanas are similar to Deluxe Cabanas in that they have an indoor flush toilet and hot shower. They have a queen size bed and a double bed. Private Bath Cabanas, like Deluxe Cabanas, are comfortable and private. Shared Bath Cabanas are actually private but are more basic and rustic than Private Bath Cabanas. A family or couple staying in one Shared Bath Cabana does not share the room, shower, or toilet with any other guests. Shared Bath Cabanas are called such for two reasons: (1) instead of a flush toilet guests use an eco-outhouse toilet and (2) it's a short walk (about 60 yards) to the shower (solar heated water).
